NVIDIA massively downloaded videos for AI training, ignoring copyright holders

NVIDIA has found itself at the centre of a scandal over the way it collects data for its AI systems. The company has been accused of mass downloading videos from popular platforms without the consent of copyright holders.

404 Media has obtained internal NVIDIA documents revealing details of the Cosmos project. The company’s employees were downloading tonnes of videos from YouTube, Netflix and other services on a daily basis. The scale is impressive: 80 years of content was processed every day.
