In an era of rapid technological development, the entertainment industry is actively experimenting with generative artificial intelligence (AI). Netflix, one of the leaders of the streaming market, is not left out of this trend. The company’s management expresses confidence that this technology will help content creators “tell better stories.” However, remarkably, according to Netflix, viewers are unlikely to notice the difference in production technology if the quality of content remains at a high level.

This stance was made clear during the company’s recent financial results conference call. Netflix co-chief executive officers Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters answered detailed questions about the potential impact of generative AI on content creation, revealing the company’s strategic vision in this area.

Stability AI, a company known for its innovations in artificial intelligence, recently announced a new technology called Stable Video 4D. This development marks a significant breakthrough in AI-assisted video generation.

Stable Video 4D enables the creation of videos in which viewers can watch moving 3D objects from different angles and at different points in time. In fact, the algorithm is capable of generating eight videos with different perspectives at once based on a single source video.

Varun Jampani, Head of 3D Research at Stability AI, emphasises the uniqueness of the new tool:

“Stable Video 4D is the first algorithm of its kind where a single neural network performs both image synthesis and video generation.”

The US Department of Energy has embarked on an ambitious project to create a new generation supercomputer called Discovery. This technological colossus promises to be a real breakthrough in the world of high-performance computing, significantly surpassing the capabilities of its predecessors.

Currently, as we know, the title of the most powerful supercomputer belongs to Frontier, installed in the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. But to all appearances, its dominance may not last long. Discovery is not just planning to overtake, but literally eclipse its predecessor, promising performance 3-5 times higher.

Discovery is ready to raise the bar even higher. According to preliminary data, its theoretical performance can reach 6.5 exaflops.

There is a new player in the world of AI image generation. Black Forest Labs, a startup created by former Stability AI developers, has unveiled its FLUX.1 family of models.

FLUX.1 debuted a couple of months after the release of Stable Diffusion 3 Medium, which, to put it mildly, did not impress users. Many complained about the strange images of people with distorted proportions, which caused a wave of ridicule on social media.

NVIDIA has found itself at the centre of a scandal over the way it collects data for its AI systems. The company has been accused of mass downloading videos from popular platforms without the consent of copyright holders.

404 Media has obtained internal NVIDIA documents revealing details of the Cosmos project. The company’s employees were downloading tonnes of videos from YouTube, Netflix and other services on a daily basis. The scale is impressive: 80 years of content was processed every day.
